Youth’s Mission Outreach Food Drive Challenge!

Starting October 1, 2015, and for the entire month of October, there will be two tables set up in the Narthex.  One of course for the Youth Group and one for the Men’s Club, who graciously accepted our video challenge, to see who could raise the most points in the Food Drive Challenge.  Points have been assigned  to the donations and all will be tallied during and at the end of the month.  Whichever group brings in the most points wins!!!  The loosing group, however, will offer up one of its own members to receive a plateful of spaghetti and sauce, right in the “kisser”!  The members that will be offered up, will be those who do not participate in making this a success.  If all participate then it goes to the Youth Leaders to “get it in the kisser”!  We will also be accepting cash donations, $1 = 1 point.

After the YG went and toured Trinity House and saw with their own eyes what it was all about and listened to the information given, they accepted their own personal challenge to help make this Food Drive a success.  We challenged them to pray and ask what they could do to help.  The goal of this was to depend on themselves, not mom and dad, but to give or their own free will.  For example, to do extra chores for family, friends and neighbors and raise a collective $200 or more. This will be kept separate from any CASH donations we may receive.   If and when they achieve this goal, the Youth Group funds would double whatever they raise and we will take them to go shopping at Aldi’s for the items on Trinity’s list.  As many of you know, this is a wonderful teaching moment.  Having the kids do this, puts a better understanding on the situation.  “Money doesn’t just grow on trees…or out of mom and dad’s billfolds either”!

We are asking the kids to volunteer for doing announcements at all 4 services this coming weekend.  I will have all the information ready for you to present.  This has to come from you kids, it’s your challenge!  Please let me know if you are able to help at any of the services to include Saturday evening service at 5:30.  I suspect it will only take about 5-7 minutes to present and is an important part of informing the congregation as to why we are doing this Mission Outreach and would like their support.  I also will have a sign-up chart for all services during the month of October, as you kids needs to “man your donation table,”  so that we can beat the Men’s Club at the challenge we issued!!!  They will have a table right next to ours and theirs will be represented all services, too!  Remember, if you don’t participate in this challenge, your name goes into the drawing for getting spaghetti and sauce, in your face.

Pray about how you can help make this a success.  In the end the winner is Trinity House and all those who utilize their services.

I will post what we will be doing the next couple of weeks and then get on and update that.  This Sunday September 13, 2015, we will be playing Bunco!!!  If you didn’t get to do this last time, it’s a fun game that keeps you moving and mingling.  We are doing this now as October 18th we will be assisting Ms. Mcleod with the Diamond Dinner and playing Bunco with the over 75 crowd.  This is a wonderful opportunity to share yourselves with these snazzy folks and have a good time.  I do expect a high turnout from you guys, as we do need to remember that giving back to the church and those within it is equally important to all the fun things they allow us to do.  The more we can be involved the better people we become and you never know, you may just meet a very special individual that will touch your life.  Stay tuned for next week….I need to make sure the guys are ready before I announce what we will be doing.  Keep in touch….See you tomorrow!

Challenge Accepted!!

The Youth’s Outreach Mission for the month of October is on!!!  The kids challenged the Men’s Club to a food drive and the challenge has been accepted.  We will have two tables set up  in front of the Sanctuary for the entire month of October.  One for the Men’s Club and one for the Youth Group.  We will need volunteers from the youth group to man the table before each of the three services for four weeks.  It’s not much to ask to help beat the Men’s Club, who are bringing it full force!  If we were to loose this challenge, those who do not man the table during one of the services out of the four weeks, will draw straws and he who draws the short straw will get the spaghetti plate in the face.  I will have a sign-up sheet at the next meeting and encourage you to sign up to help win this challenge.  This is going to be a great way to involve our congregation and ask for their support…and have some fun!!!  We really need to bring in the donations for Trinity House, as they have been having trouble staying open the full 3 days a week due to the high demand within the community.  Pray about ways that you can help us win this challenge.  See you next Sunday!!!

Parents..I need your help.

Parents, I will be needing you to consider signing a form that will allow me to post the pictures that we take during youth group events to be posted to this blog site.  We have them printed out for posters to hang in the church, but we thought it would be fun to put them on here too.  I think you would enjoy seeing what we have been up to as much as the kids would enjoy seeing themselves having some fun.  I should have the forms ready at the September 13th meeting, so please take a moment, come in and sign one.  We just got some of the pictures from the slip and slide kickball, and there are some great ones of the paint water balloon and paint slip and slide also.  I also have a few of those in the Sr. High group taking the challenges each week.  They are GREAT!!!  What a great group of kids:)  Thanks for sharing your kiddos with us!

Labor Day Weekend!!!

I hope everyone has a great and grand weekend off!  Be safe in your travels, eat lots of good food and enjoy your time with friends and family.  We will NOT have Youth Group this Sunday.  Take a break and relax.  We will see you next week for another round of Bunco!  The game is fun.  You don’t sit still for long before you’re moving about from table to table and the snacks are really good too!!

Keep checking in as I will be doing my best to post weekly from here on out.
