Gina Garner serves Trinity as organist, pianist, and director of the Trinity Choir and Praise & Worship Team. She is also a member of the hymn selection team; serves on the Board of Worship; and is an active participant of events hosted by the Board of Social Concerns.
Gina sees God’s hand in every aspect of her love for music and music ministry. At age five, she began studying piano and organ in a tiny church in Dover, Kansas, west of her hometown of Topeka. Her skills developed as an accompanist to her high school choirs and pep bands; and while a Washburn University student, Gina studied organ, voice, and choral music; and she was a pianist and keyboardist to Topeka Civic Theatre productions.
Gina’s experience continued to grow while transferring from one Army installation to another with her husband, Ron, and raising her three children: Wayne, James, and Kathleen. Gina was organist at Army chapels in Germany and the United States, as well as Lutheran churches in Texas and Virginia. When not raising her family and serving in music ministry settings, Gina provided care to others as a Radiologic Technologist, and she was an American Red Cross CPR community volunteer instructor. After God settled Gina and Ron in a more permanent church home in Trinity, Gina continued to fulfill her music calling playing the organ, singing in the choir, and directing the youth handbell choir. For many years, she also served as a youth group counselor.
At the top of Gina’s most favorite things to do is playing with her two grandsons. Aside from them, she most enjoys KU basketball, baking, gardening, sewing, making and gifting crafts, supporting the Lansing High School music program and students, and traveling with her husband.
